SILK FUSION - with Marilyn Farrow, February 2017marilyn demonstrating silk paper making

This workshop was aimed at covering the basics of silk paper making with apologies in advance to the purists…. We created fused silk with silk tops and silk hankies (mawata) with the intention of using it to enhance or embellish our textile art. Silk paper is sensual and tantalising with a sheen like no other and its strength is astonishing.
Martien van Zuilen kindly agreed to join us on the day with a good supply of silk products.  Silk is not available at our local fabric outlets so many members took the opportunity to augment their stash!

Our "Show and Tell table" indicated there had been no slacking off during the long Christmas break with a wide variety of textile related disciplines on display.

It was another creative day working towards our 2018 Exhibition.
